Hot Pilates

All classes are run in the beautiful Hot Yoga Studio in The Zone, Hornbeam Park, Harrogate HG2 8QT.

Modern PilatesJo first trained as a fitness instructor in 2000 and then completed her first level of training in Modern Pilates™ in 2002. As a modern pilates instructor, she has been teaching in and around the Leeds and Harrogate area ever since. Modern Pilates™ instructors are trained to teach multiple level classes that are suitable for beginners to advanced and those in rehabilitation.

They are trained to an extremely high level. Modern Pilates™ instructors have to pass extensive theory exams, present case studies and plan both progressive and remedial programmes. The final assessment is based around hours of observed teaching and a final practical assessment.

Joseph Pilates developed a system of exercise in the 1920s.This system of exercise is now adapted to modern daily life and used to focus on improving posture, strength, flexibility, core stability and balance.

Many people attend pilates classes simply because they enjoy this relaxing form of exercise.

There are many benefits and regular attendance can give clients improvement with the following:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Shoulder pain and instability
  • Headache/migraine
  • Incontinence
  • Hip and Groin pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Poor postures
  • Stress levels

Why Hot?

Hot Pilates like hot yoga is perfomed in temperatures up to 35 degrees centigrade. The incubators on the ceiling provide a very gentle heat that warms like sunshine down to the bones. This helps to gently relax the muscles especially the intercostals (the muscles between the ribs) to allow beautiful breath to expand the chest and to stretch and tone more effectively. Benefits of the heat don't stop there, you can expect:

  • Improved metabolism and therefore weight loss
  • Improved white blood cell count therefore better immunity
  • Deeper sense of relaxation
  • Greater flexibility - the heat lubricates the connective tissue in the body
  • A detox effect through additional sweating enables the body to release inner toxins allowing for rehydration
